HISTORY
In Fall 2016 Coordinator of Expansion and Growth Mike Carlo, Delta Omicron ’13, lead expansion efforts at Northern Illinois University. By late October 51 new members had been pledged in making Alpha Sigma Phi the third largest Fraternity on campus at the time.

On November 19, 2016, 46 men were initiated into the interest group at Northern Illinois University. Members from the Delta Chi Chapter at Elmhurst College (Erik Marato, Elmhurst ‘13; Lucas Barnard, Elmhurst ‘14; Andrew Connet, Elmhurst ‘15; Nick Schulberg, Elmhurst ‘15; Thomas Sullivan, Elmhurst ‘15; Carlos Cantu, Elmhurst ‘15; and Luis Aburto, Elmhurst ‘16), together with Coordinator of Chapter Development, Samir Hafiz, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and their Grand Chapter Advisor Scott Woodfill, Grand Valley ’08, conducted the initiation in the Campus Life Building and Dusable Hall.

On November 20, 2016, the interest group was installed as Theta Mu Provisional Chapter during ceremonies in Dusable Hall on the Northern Illinois University campus. Niel Patel, NIU ’16, was the Installing President.

On February 17, 2018, the Provisional Chapter became officially chartered as the Theta Mu Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi in ceremonies at the Barsem Alumni and Visitors Center on campus. Grand Senior President, Matt Maurer, Bowling Green ‘03, served as the Installing Officer; Max Nelson Iowa State ‘12 represented the Fraternity Staff, and Khali Craig-Garland, Northern Illinois ’17, was the founding Chapter President. John Drummond, Illinois State ‘88, and Evan Geiselhart, Illinois ‘82, were also in attendance.
