HISTORY

Coordinator of Expansion & Growth Brett Carlson, Illinois State ’14, led expansion efforts at the University 

of Hawai’i in the spring semester of 2019, recruiting 16 men and making Alpha Sigma Phi the first NIC fraternity on campus. Forteen men participated in the initiation ceremony on April 24, 2019, conducted by Coordinator of Undergraduate Engagement Greg Maita, Utah State ’15. In the fall semester of 2019, Coordinator of Growth Gabriel Sanchez, Fresno State ’13, helped the provisional chapter recruit an additional eight men into the organization. The Provisional Chapter was approved to charter by the Grand Council in April 2023.

 

Kappa Beta held its chartering ceremony on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Brett Carlson, Illinois ’14, represented Fraternity Staff at the ceremony, as he gave the Keynote Address and presented the group with their charter. Speakers from the Chapter included Past President Tyler Miller, Hawaii ’19, VP of Enrichment Jake Moraga, Hawaii ’19,  and President at the time of chartering Shawn Enverso, Hawaii ’22. Founding Father and Chapter Advisor, Braiden Paa, Hawaii ’19, also made remarks.

 

The Kappa Beta Charter rostered 48 names with initiation years ranging from 2019-2023.
