HISTORY
Coordinator of Expansion Scott McKay, Illinois State ’15, began expansion efforts at Rhode Island College in the fall semester of 2018. By the end of the semester, nine men were initiatied into Alpha Sigma Phi. The Provisional Chapter was approved to charter by the Grand Council in April 2023.

On February 1, 2019, the Interest Group was installed as the Kappa Alpha Provisional Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi. Coordinator of Undergraduate Engagement Ryan Ruiz, Elmhurst ‘14, represented Fraternity Staff. Justin Gist, Rhode Island ‘18, was the Provisional Chapter President at the time of installation.

Kappa Alpha held its chartering ceremony on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Grand Marshall, Jason H. Nolen-Doerr, Murray State ’05, gave the Keynote Address and presented the group with their charter. Speakers from the Chapter included VP of Rituals & Traditions Tim Maczko, Rhode Island ’23, VP of Finance Noah Dowhan, Rhode Island ’20, Founding Father and Past President TJ Clifford, Rhode Island ’19, and President at the time of chartering Tristan Lacourse, Rhode Island ’21. Kevin Finkler, Nevada ’17, represented Headquarters Staff at the ceremony.
