Zack Weidensaul, a 2013 initiate of the Epsilon Chi chapter at Capital University, transferred to Kent State University in early 2014, where he quickly sought to establish a chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi on Kent State’s campus as well. After amassing an interest group, Zack began conversations with Alpha Sigma Phi international headquarters. Assistant Director of Expansion and Growth LT Piver, Chico State ’11 traveled to campus in the late months of 2014 to provide support to the young interest group and assist in recruitment practices.
Assistant Director of Undergraduate Engagement Cory Ryan, Wake Forest ’10 led formal expansion efforts at Kent State University in the spring semester of 2015. 33 men participated in a Pledge Ceremony in February of 2015. With the assistance of members from the Alpha Mu chapter at Baldwin Wallace University, 29 men were initiated and the group was colonized in April of 2015.
The Eta Sigma Provisional Chapter chartered on October 8, 2016. The ceremony took place at the Kent State Student Center. Brother Don Morgan, Purdue ‘57, was the keynote speaker and Brother Colin Cunningham, Baldwin Wallace ‘12 (Fraternity Staff), was also in attendance.
