HISTORY
The Altoona Center of Pennsylvania State University opened in 1939. It moved to its present campus in 1947. In 1997, the Altoona Campus offered four-year degree programs in four majors, seven associates degree programs, and instruction in the first two years of Penn State curricula in 100 major fields. In 1998 it was one of 24 branch campuses of Penn State University.

Seven men at Penn State Altoona formed an interest group to seek a charter in Alpha Sigma Phi in Fall 1997. A petition for charter was submitted by 41 petitioners, 25 founding fathers and 16 Alpha class members on December 19, 1998. Ralph Vuono was colony president.  The chapter was chartered on May 1, 1999, and installed by members of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter at Bloomsburg University.  By December 2004 the chapter roster had grown to 141 members.

In 2006, Ralph Vuono, Penn State Altoona ‘99, successfully coordinated a drive by the chapter to clear its debt to the Fraternity. However, on March 13, 2008, the charter of Epsilon Zeta Chapter was revoked for risk management violations. Its chapter roll contains 171 names.
